JDO Impact
Creativity creating change.
Through Unity for Albinism, Hairdressers Without Borders and international fundraising, JDO Collective uses creativity and education to create opportunities worldwide.
Why JDO Impact exists
Our industry has the power to change lives.
JDO Collective believes that creativity, education and connection can do more than build a career. They can open doors for people who have no access to the opportunities we take for granted.
That is why JDO Impact is not a separate foundation or a standalone campaign. It is woven into everything we do, from the Membership to the Academy to the retreats.
Why Impact matters to Juliette
For me, this is not an extra.
When I ended up on sick leave in 2009, I experienced first-hand how it feels when your health limits you in doing what you love most. That period changed my perspective, both personally and professionally. Since then I have devoted myself wholeheartedly to people for whom opportunities aren't a given.
As a hairstylist, for example, I contribute to Mini Milkshake, a festival for people with disabilities, in collaboration with The Talents. I also support various projects for children in Africa. Since 2019 I have been Global Ambassador of Hairdressers Without Borders, through which we deliver training worldwide to people in vulnerable situations and help them build a future through a trade.
It was out of that same conviction and love that my own foundation came into being: Unity for Albinism.
JDO Collective was set up to train people, and to give something back through that education. Every enrollment is already a contribution.
Live Fashion Hair Awards
A stage for more than craft alone.
At the Live Fashion Hair Awards in Tenerife, Juliette was not only nominated for this prestigious hairdressing competition, but was also given the special chance to share the story of Unity for Albinism.
A meaningful moment to draw attention to the foundation's mission, to raise awareness and to show how, together, we can make a difference for people with albinism. Sometimes a stage is more than a prize: it is a chance to make an impact.
Built-in impact
1%
of every enrollment and membership.
Not an optional donation. Not a separate campaign. Every enrolment and every membership automatically contributes to the impact mission of JDO Collective.
If you learn at JDO or are a member, you are already giving back.
Our missions
Three missions. One purpose.
Mission 01 · Founder
Unity for Albinism.
Juliette is founder of Unity for Albinism, a foundation that supports 100+ children with albinism in Tanzania through the Mary Mother of God Center in Lamadi.
The safe house provides shelter, nutrition, medical care, sun protection and social acceptance to children who would otherwise become victims of violence and exclusion.

Mission 02 · Global Ambassador since 2019
Hairdressers Without Borders.
Since 2019, Juliette has been Global Ambassador of HWB, an international organization that trains people in vulnerable situations in the hairdressing profession.
Through trainings in Nepal, India and other countries, our education gives them the tools to become self-sufficient: with a trade in hairstyling they build financial independence and can support their families. Juliette regularly delivers training on site herself.
"Learning a trade means creating freedom."

Mission 03 · Fundraising
Sunscreen Fundraising.
People with albinism in Africa need daily sun protection to prevent skin cancer. Stichting Albinisme in Afrika (African Albinism Foundation) receives donated sunscreen; together with Unity for Albinism, we support the transport of it to Africa through fundraising actions.
People with albinism in Africa face a strongly increased risk of skin damage and skin cancer due to intense sun exposure. Access to daily sun protection is therefore vital.
As the Margriet primary school action below shows, every contribution makes an immediate difference, right up to a complete container of sunscreen headed to Africa.

Fundraiser · Margriet primary school
400 children. One mission. An enormous impact.
Together with teacher Janet, 400 pupils from Margriet primary school took action during a sponsored obstacle run. Their enthusiasm, dedication and perseverance resulted in an incredible sum of €10,253.55.
Thanks to this remarkable action, Unity for Albinism can make the transport of a complete container of sunscreen to Africa possible. A beautiful example of how a group of children, together, can truly make a difference.
Signature Experience
Tanzania Impact Journey.
Where creativity, connection and impact come together.
An exclusive experience for a small group of creatives and beauty professionals. Once every two years. A journey that brings together creative education, human connection and meaningful impact. Deepen your craft, experience Tanzania beyond the surface and spend time with the children and community connected to the Mary Mother of God Center in Lamadi.
Not simply a journey you take, but an experience that may change the way you see your craft, your life and the impact you can create.
What You'll Experience
01
Education & Creative Growth
Deepen your craft through inspiring masterclasses and hands-on sessions. Step away from your everyday environment, make space for new perspectives and reconnect with your creativity alongside a small group of like-minded professionals.
02
Culture & Human Connection
Experience Tanzania through genuine human connection. Meet local communities, learn about their lives and culture, and create space for conversations, reflection and wellbeing. Not a traditional tourist experience, but an opportunity to slow down, listen and see the world from a different perspective.
03
Creating Impact, Together
Visit the Mary Mother of God Center in Lamadi, a safe place for children with albinism, and spend meaningful time with the children and the community around them.
We don't just visit. Together, we contribute through activities and initiatives created around the needs of the children and the local community. You will experience first-hand where the work of Unity for Albinism makes a difference.
You arrive to contribute. You may leave having received just as much in return.
Why Tanzania
"My connection with Africa began in 2012. Over the years, it grew into long-term collaborations, friendships and social projects, and eventually led to the creation of Unity for Albinism.
This journey brings together everything I believe in: creativity, education, human connection and giving back.
We spend time with the children and community connected to the Mary Mother of God Center in Lamadi, experience the impact of our work first-hand and contribute in a meaningful way.
I believe some experiences change more than what you know. They change how you see the world, and sometimes how you see yourself."
