You can master technique and still get creatively stuck.
You are skilled at your craft. Your clients are happy. Yet you notice yourself falling back more and more on the same looks, techniques and solutions. Creative Performance is being developed for hairdressers, hairstylists and make-up artists who want to give their creativity room again and grow stronger in their own direction. Not about creating harder, but about better understanding what your creativity needs.
Recognition
When good work becomes routine.
You are skilled at your craft. Your clients are happy. You know what works. And that is exactly where something can set in: you return more quickly to the same solutions, the same looks and the same way of working.
Not because you are not creative enough. But because routine is efficient, while creativity needs room to try something new.
At some point you can be technically strong and still feel that your creative development has come to a standstill.
Insight
Creativity needs input and room.
Creativity does not arise from thinking harder alone. New ideas are fed by what you see, experience, learn, try and combine.
But when your days consist mostly of producing, meeting deadlines, serving clients and repeating the same solutions, little room is left for curiosity and experiment.
That is why Creative Performance is not about waiting for inspiration. It is about consciously creating the conditions in which new ideas can arise again.

Creative Performance in practice.
- ✓ When a client asks for something new Not automatically falling back on the technique you always use, but consciously learning to see several possibilities.
- ✓ During a shoot Being able to make choices under time pressure without losing your creative vision.
- ✓ In the salon Using routine work as a foundation, without routine becoming your only way of working.
- ✓ While developing your portfolio Not just copying trends, but discovering what you yourself find interesting.
- ✓ When facing creative blocks Not immediately concluding that your inspiration is gone, but investigating what is missing: input, rest, direction or confidence.
For whom
Do you recognise yourself in this?
Routine
You make good work, but notice that you keep returning to the same solutions.
Inspiration
You want to develop new ideas, but do not quite know where to begin.
Doubt
You compare yourself to others a lot, which makes you doubt your own choices more quickly.
Focus
You have plenty of ideas, but find it hard to work them out when pressure, distraction or deadlines build up.
Your own direction
You want to copy less of what you see and grow stronger in your own creative signature.
Portfolio
Your portfolio no longer shows where you want to grow creatively.
Creativity
Creativity is not chance. You can learn how to keep feeding it.
Where it begins
Inspiration is not the starting point. Curiosity is.
You do not have to wait until a brilliant idea suddenly appears. Creative development often begins much smaller: exploring something, trying a different form, looking outside your own discipline, not correcting a mistake straight away or asking yourself a question you do not yet know the answer to.
Curiosity keeps your creativity in motion.
The JDO Method
From technique to creative freedom.
Within JDO Academy you learn to understand techniques instead of only copying them. Creative Performance goes a step further: how do you keep using that knowledge to develop yourself once the training is over?
Because technique can be taught. But your way of seeing, combining and creating keeps developing throughout your entire career.

The person behind this
Creativity has changed my career again and again.
Over the years Juliette worked behind the chair, on shoots, backstage, as an educator and as an entrepreneur. Each phase asked something different of her creativity. Not only thinking up new looks, but learning to see anew, taking risks, continuing to challenge herself and daring to follow new directions.
That is exactly how one of the most important principles within The JDO Method came about: you do not learn to copy the work of your educator. You learn to look, to understand and, ultimately, to create independently.
Creative Performance builds on that. It is not only about what you can make, but about how you keep yourself as a creative in motion.
"Technique gives you possibilities. Creativity decides what you do with them."
