How it works

Grow step by step during fixed training days in Amsterdam, with direct feedback and structure over 5 months. You follow the full JDO Method online and come together with Juliette in Amsterdam each month for the hands-on lessons.

  1. 01

    Learn online with the JDO Method

    Through the JDO learning platform you follow the complete JDO Method step by step. Each week a new lesson is released online, with a homework assignment that you submit for personal feedback from the JDO team. You decide which day and time you study, within the fixed 5-month programme. In addition, you take part in the monthly JDO Academy Sessions with Juliette, alongside students from the Immersion and Online Guided learning paths.

    Train live in Amsterdam

    Once a month you come together in Amsterdam for a practice-focused training evening from 18:00 to 22:00. Five training evenings spread across the programme: you work hands-on on models, receive personal feedback and learn together with a fixed, small group of students.

  3. 03

    Build your portfolio through 2 professional shoots

    You take part in two professional photoshoots: the men's shoot is integrated into training evening 3, and the closing women's shoot is a full day on Sunday. Both form the foundation of a professional portfolio with which you can present yourself within the beauty industry, and we aim to publish them.

Frequently asked questions

What is Klarna and what does paying in instalments mean?
Paying in instalments means you pay for the course in parts instead of all at once. Klarna is the payment service that makes this possible. You choose Klarna at checkout, not with us beforehand. Klarna then runs a short check and decides whether instalments are possible. Which terms apply and what Klarna charges for them you see at Klarna before you agree, so you are not committed to anything until you have seen that overview. Klarna is not available in every country. If it is not available where you are, you pay in one go with iDEAL, credit card or PayPal.
Can I combine the course with a full-time job?
Yes. The Hybrid Class is designed precisely for people with a full-time job, family or a busy life. Each week a new online lesson is released that you follow on your own day and time, with weekly homework. The in-person training evenings are once a month (18:00-22:00).
Do I need experience to start?
No. The JDO Method guides you step by step from the basics to a professional level. Beginners are welcome, a passion for make-up is enough to start.
How much time does the course take on average per week?
Expect 4 to 6 hours per week: 1-2 hours watching online lessons + 2-4 hours of homework and practising at home. Plus 1 in-person evening class per month (18:00-22:00) in Amsterdam.
What happens if I miss an in-person training evening?
Where possible we schedule a catch-up moment or offer a targeted online supplement. All online lessons can always be rewatched via the learning platform.
How long do I have access to the online learning platform?
You have 12 months of full access to the JDO learning platform. Within that period you can watch the modules as often as you like. After 12 months your access ends.
Do I have to arrange my own models for the classes?
For the in-person evening classes you bring your own models (friends, family or your own network). Between classes you practise at home with your own models. For the 2 professional photoshoots (men's + women's) we arrange the models through collaboration. That is fully included in your course price.
Are the professional photoshoots included?
Yes. 2 professional photoshoots (men's + women's) are included, including the models. Both provide images for your portfolio. We aim to publish both, but this is not guaranteed.
Can I take part if I live in Belgium or abroad?
Yes. You follow the online lessons from any location. For the 5 in-person evening classes and the photoshoots you travel to Amsterdam, on average once a month.
Can I pay for the course in instalments?
Yes. The regular price is €3.200; when you pay in full you receive a 5% discount (€3.040). Instalments are also possible: 3 instalments via iDEAL, or more instalments via Klarna. Which options are available depends on your country, you'll see this directly at checkout.
Do I receive a JDO certificate on completion?
Yes. You finish with an exam assignment that we assess. On a positive assessment you receive the JDO Make-up Certificate. JDO Academy is CRKBO-registered, which means the course is exempt from VAT.
